The Elpas Single-Door Wandering Patient Solution  is  a complete off-the-shelf, single-door wandering patient solution that responds to the need for cost-effective protection of ambulatory individuals suffering from Alzheimer's Disease (AD) or other forms of dementia.

This Elpas Wandering Patient Solution reduces the need to continuously supervise chronic Wanderers (high-risk patients) or to excessively restrict their mobile independence. In simple terms, the solution permits regular movement of care givers, guests, other residents or family members through a protected doorway while preventing un-supervised high-risk patients from wandering out of the restricted environment unnoticed.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                            
Each Wanderer is given a Elpas active RFID patient wrist tag
(worn like a wrist watch) which allows the individual free and unregulated movement within the allowed interior area of the building or residence. Should the patient approach the protected door through which he or she is not allowed to pass through unescorted;  near-exit alarm intervention functionalities will auto-trigger.
